The 2 Days adventure takes on the strenuous steep slopes on the wild trail headed to the volcano summit located at 4,507 meters above sea level. The 2 Days adventure includes staying overnight on the base camp on the slopes of the volcano. Early morning on the second day, you ascend to the summit, spend time there and hike down for your departure. Mount Karisimbi is located in Volcanoes National park on the borders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo but is hiked from the Rwanda side. Day 1: Pick up & Mt Karisimbi hiking
Depending on where you will be (hotel in Kigali or the airport), your driver guide will pick you up very early in the morning and transfer you to Musanze at the headquarters of Volcanoes National park. There you will be registered and briefed on the security guidelines for hiking this iconic mountain. You will then drive to the hiking starting point and begin the real adventure. The hike uphill is not a walk in the wood but rather a tough walk via different vegetation zones and altitudes. The hike offers you scenic views of the beautiful rolling hills, farms, and other Virunga Volcanoes. You are advised to hire a porter who will help you carry bags and prepare dinner on the slopes of the volcano.
Day 2: Reach the summit, descend and depart
Very early today, rise up and start a hike up to the summit of Mount Karisimbi. You can have your sunrise breakfast at the summit as you enjoy clear views of Volcanoes, Virunga, and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks. The summit also gives you great views of the other 7 volcanoes in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The summit also contains amasimbi”snow” from which the volcano was named”Karisimbi”. have a great time there, take memorable pictures and videos and then hike down o the bottom of the volcano where your driver guide will be waiting for you. You will then drive to Kigali for your connecting flight
